EN 10253-2 is a European standard that specifies the requirements for butt-welding pipe fittings made of carbon and low-alloy steels. The standard is divided into two parts: Part 1 covers fittings with specified room temperature properties, and Part 2 covers fittings with specified elevated temperature properties.
The main difference between EN 10253-2 A and B lies in the temperature range for which the fittings are intended.
- EN 10253-2 Type A fittings are intended for use at room temperature and below. They are suitable for applications where the operating temperature does not exceed the specified limit for Type A fittings.
- EN 10253-2 Type B fittings are designed for elevated temperature service. They are suitable for use in applications where the operating temperature is higher than what is suitable for Type A fittings.Wilson Pipeline
The specific requirements for material composition, mechanical properties, dimensions, tolerances, testing, and marking are outlined separately for Type A and Type B fittings within the standard to ensure that they meet the respective temperature-related performance requirements.
